the top of the washington monument!

this past august the washington monument re-opened after being closed since it sustained damage from the earthquake back in 2011. my friend and i decided to see if we might be able to tour the monument despite not having tickets. well... we got lucky and we were able to go up. this was such a neat experience and the fact that it was free made it even better!
 
we started our morning with bagels in dupont circle then decided to bike down past the white house and over to the national mall!
after waiting in line we loaded into the elevator and went up over 500 feet in just 60 seconds. i have seen this city from many different places but these views were like nothing else!

between the gorgeous weather and the remarkable views this was the perfect way to spend the day!
